Nude and mouvement in the space of Neus Gorriz.

Synthesi of intellect and emotion
Paper, painting, texture, space, volume, mouvement, figures, background, light, colour... All is alive in the work presented by Neus Górriz in the whole of oils and drawings, where in all cases, the preparation of supports, well thought and worked, are linked to the final result of each piece of work : shape, light and colour are interrelationed. The background shows the projection to the main form, that breaks the traditional concept of oil technique : it is present in the work since the beginning, and the artist, in a "sublim" vision close to Turner landscapes, forces to go out and became co-protagonist of a real landscape with background and human figure dived in nebula of light and colour. She obtains an "exciting" reading of shape, starting from an "excited" study of each piece and each part that delimit that form. The artist propose the analysis of pieces of moments in those she captivates a form. She takes up of the outward nature these forms, she apprehends all of them in the postulates of her imagination and she plans and thinks about down to where could arrive her freedom in the transformation of them. And freedom can arrive up to perceive the intuition of the artist. In this way to captivate an instant, the nude body becomes synthesis of the hole form; sometimes complete, sometimes fragmented, formed or deliberately "unformed" to arrive at the most abstract form, where this meaningfull "deformity" does not imply ignorance of the first form of departure. It is a brave and innovator work in the way of treat supports and materials, techniques and colours, forms and backgrounds : " Just this possibility to deform forms, seemingly arbitrary, but in fact determinable, is source of infinites creations simply artistics...". (W. Kandinsky : The Spiritual into Art ).

In this way, the work proposed by Neus Górriz find its "low continuous" in the internal sound of forms, seemingly arbitrary on picture surface, without limits, without margins, as a free game with the space.

The conscience is not based on experience just elaborated, so on built experience. It is identified with proper existence.

The subject of these works posts for a reflection about feminine nude and its mouvement, where the point of view of figures, as sculptures, becomes, far from illusion, truthful three-dimensional.

Women in the world of Neus Górriz, as women in Ingres or Degas, are presented like daily women in daily and nameless positions : fragmented, without heads, without faces, that they are not necessary !, because they have all their force, like in the "Walker" of Rodin, in the expression that not exist but can be known by intution, rational, balanced, calmed, intelligent, across the body mouvement. When face is present it is planned in the most evocative position, the less evident. Figures are hung in a space plenty of light seemingly cold, diluted, reflected. Bodies are developed in volume in the same colours as the background : form and colours are identified.

Which is the ideal of the artist ?. The plane or the volume ?. The straight line or the curve ?. Colour or light ?. Obviously, Neus Górriz does not accept no formal ideal "a priori"; all that could be seen, drown or painted, became an absolute form, because line and colour, volume and light are the same sign. We are not able to interpret feelings, psychology or personage drama. We only want to define and set up successfully the form. And this form is not a significant and immutable "idea"; it is a "value" that this artist discovers in the relation between things. As same as Délacroix, the work of Neus Górriz shows her single and wonderful experience as artist. She needs a public to move. Her work is imagination, the imagination is source of passion and passion is ability to live life with intensity : synthesis of intellect and emotion. All things have the same importance into the picture. Neus Górriz surpasses the clasical construction of nude. The picture offers a fragment of reality and reality is to apply, to attract.

The space is not an abstraction, it is a building of minding across experience of reality. The depth is continuous : it is not an outside perspective : in the work of Neus Górriz there is not any division between space of life and space of painting. The study of the human body is not an abstract entity, always the same; women of Neus Górriz became a manner of investigation about the shallow structure of nude ; a searching nearly ontological, a kind of philosophy.

The composition of space has an ambivalent character, like a mutability work. We can change the vision of the picture; we can read it either vertical, either horizontal : in both cases the composition remains coherent. Across this whole bodies that climb, let down, slip up in a balance "unbalanced", thought, desired, the form plays with a large amount of curves , with the background worked in the same way : all that contributed to read he figure across this space of suggestion. There is not complete rest, but the mouvement never is wild or distressed. It seems that the figure was plunged into a water world; she fleets, she is weightlessness of wind, of the atmosphere, in a kind of feel that displays these nude women attempted to liberate of something that imprison to them: it is the victory of serenity after an intelligent fight. Things pass over this space. Light is conducted by colour surfaces like the electrical energy by a circuit. The colour becomes diffusion and irradiation. The top vision takes a space as an inclined plane. All that Neus Górriz wants to show is a piece of space where the figure is just a nucleus in mouvement.

The artist said that the study of colours is done "by elimination" : Menorca and its sea provides such a palette reach in different tonalities : fine greens, evocative blues, purples and violets. Different from composition, well-intentioned, the act to choose colours is so much unconscious; it is born inside a spirit who loves the sea and its colours, who enjoys the depths of the sea and who achieves, by emotion, such a palette plenty of sensual loveliness. Light is a whole with colour. There is not any difference between bodies and space : figure and space define just a context. Colours are the constructive elements of the picture.

There is not any difference between light and shadow, too. Shadow is only a spot of light. There are close relations between all colour spots. Across this relation between light, form, colour, the image seems unformed, with strident colours, regular outlines and narrow rythm of brush-strokes : the picture obtains an autonomous existence : the picture does not represent anything : it is.

We could say that all these elements in the work of Neus Górriz seem interesting: that is so easy as sure. But there is so much : these elements are offspring of motivation, surprise and emotion.

As well as Baudelaire said to Délacroix, the work of Neus Górriz has also " a quality sui generis that defines a style, absolutely new, that transformes her into a different artist, without generator, without precedence... a so much beauty ring that could not have spare, and if hypothetically were suppressed, a world of ideas and feelings were suppressed, too : it were opened a such a big pool in the historical link ".
